SchriftOhr is rated 13+ on the App Store. This page sets out what that rating rests on, so you can decide for your own family.
The app itself holds no books. Everything a reader reads is a book they bring, one of the free SchriftOhr Editions from Find New Books, or a book from an outside catalog.
Sixteen public-domain books, free to every reader: The Pilgrim's Progress, The Adventures of Sherlock Holmes, Treasure Island, The Swiss Family Robinson, two books of Tales of the Covenanters, works by John Owen, Jeremiah Burroughs and A. W. Pink, three Mary Louise mysteries by Edith Lavell, and three Sugar Creek Gang books by Paul Hutchens. They are the reason for the rating:
None of them has sexual content, crude language or drawn-out violence.
Find New Books can also browse catalogs SchriftOhr does not review: Project Gutenberg, and any catalog a reader adds. They hold books of every kind, so they open only to readers 18 and over, or with a parent's approval.
The catalogs use Apple's own age check, on the device. SchriftOhr learns only which age band the reader is in (under 13, 13 to 17, or 18 and over), never a birth date, and Apple does not learn what anyone reads. A parent gives approval on the device, in Settings → Books & Library.
No advertising. No gambling or games of chance. No data collected: the App Store label says Data Not Collected, and the privacy policy says why.
